With more than 15 years’ experience in public policy, communications, and partnership development in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, Laura Brookes leads TASC's statewide and national public policy activities. In this capacity, she works with legislators, government officials, and community stakeholders on drug policy, behavioral healthcare policy, and criminal justice reform, with a focus on creating a more fair and sensible justice system.
Laura has co-authored numerous articles and reports on public policy and criminal justice on behalf of TASC and its Center for Health and Justice, and led the implementation of the Center’s 2014 national survey of criminal justice diversion programs and initiatives. She speaks frequently on the impact of and changes in state and federal criminal justice policies.
Laura received her BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and her MPH from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
